Scope and Sequence

We've built the scope and sequence to be flexible according to your needs. All the lessons have been written in weekly modules so depending on how long you summer school is, you can pick and choose how many weeks you would like to implement. We would recommend that everyone does weeks 1-3 but then choose between weeks 4, 5 and 6 after that.

Week 1

Day 1: Unit 1 - Short Vowels, Word Structure, Focus: Syllables

Day 2: Closed Syllables, Syllable Division, Quick Coding/Spelling

Day 3: Unit 1 Passage – Read together discussing meanings.

Day 4: Unit 2 - Schwa, Word Structure, Focus: Consonant digraphs

Day 5: Syllable Division, Quick Coding/Spelling

Week 2

Day 1: Unit 2 Passage – Read together discussing meanings.

Day 2: Unit 3 – Spelling o/u/, Word Structure, Focus: Suffixes -s, -es

Day 3: Quick Coding/Spelling,  Focus: Suffixes -s, -es

Day 4: Unit 3 Passage – Read together discussing meanings.

Day 5:  Unit 4 – Long Vowels,  Suffix -ly,  Focus: Open Syllables

Week 3

Day 1: Quick Coding/Spelling, Focus: Open Syllables

Day 2: Unit 4 Passage – Read together discussing meanings.

Day 3: Unit 5 Multi-meaning words, Magic e syllable

Day 4: Magic e syllable, Quick Coding/Spelling

Day 5: Unit 5 Passage – Read together discussing meanings.
